Calendering & Precision Flattening
Mesh, felt and expanded metal rolled between precision rolls to a set thickness and a flat, smooth face. 21 products in the catalog are made with this process.
How it is made
Cloth, laminates or expanded sheet pass between hardened calender rolls under controlled pressure. Wire crossings are flattened, thickness is held to a few microns and the aperture is fixed before sintering, cutting or pleating.
What the process can do
Thickness tolerance to about ±0.01 mm; woven cloth, dutch weaves, sintered laminates, fiber felt and flattened expanded metal.
Best for
Filter discs and packs, sintered mesh, dutch weave filter cloth, shaker screens and flattened expanded mesh.
Limits
Heavy calendering reduces open area and can close fine apertures.
