Expanded Metal (Slit & Stretch)
Sheet slit and stretched into one-piece diamond mesh with no welds or joints. 11 products in the catalog are made with this process.
How it is made
A sheet is fed into a press that slits it and stretches it in one stroke, opening each cut into a diamond. Strands stay attached at the bonds, so the mesh is one piece. It can be left raised or rolled flat.
What the process can do
Foil-thin micro mesh (from about 0.03 mm) up to heavy walkway grades; diamonds from below 1 mm to over 100 mm; steel, stainless, aluminum, copper, nickel and titanium.
Best for
Light, strong supports, grease and air filter layers, battery electrodes and guards where a one-piece mesh with no welds is valued.
Limits
The diamond opening is not a precise filtration aperture, and raised mesh is not flat.
