Phosphor Bronze Wire Mesh
- Family: Woven Wire Mesh
- Standard: ASTM E2016 / ISO 9044
Wire cloth woven on looms in plain, twill and dutch weaves from 2 to 635 mesh. 96 products in the catalog are made with this process.
Warp wires run the length of the loom and weft wires are shot across them, passing over and under in a set pattern. Plain weave goes over one, under one; twill goes over two, under two; dutch weaves pack thick warp and fine weft wires to form tiny wedge-shaped pores. The cloth is then cut, slit, calendered or rolled for shipping.
Openings from about 5 µm (twill dutch) up to 25 mm; wire from 0.02 mm; widths to about 2 m; stainless, copper, brass, bronze, nickel, Monel, Inconel, titanium and aluminum.
Screening, sieving and surface filtration where you need a defined aperture, high open area and the lowest cost per square meter.
Fine cloth is soft and frays at cut edges, and it needs support under pressure. Below about 5 µm or for rigid parts, sintered mesh or etched sheet is better.
Specify mesh count and wire diameter together, or aperture/micron for dutch weaves, and say how the cloth will be cut and edged.
