Knitted Wire Mesh

How it is made

One or more fine wires are knitted on circular machines into a continuous sleeve of interlocking loops, which can be crimped, flattened, layered into pads or compressed in dies into shaped parts.

What the process can do

Wire 0.1–0.4 mm; sleeves and tapes from a few mm to over 1 m wide; densities from very open pads to dense pressed parts.

Best for

Mist elimination, EMI gaskets, vibration damping and pressed filters such as airbag inflator filters.

Limits

Not a precise particle filter — the openings vary with compression.
