316L Stainless Steel DEF / AdBlue Tank & Pump Filter

A stainless steel DEF AdBlue tank filter sock and a small sintered pump filter laid beside a blue AdBlue container

DEF / AdBlue Tank & Pump Filter in 316L Stainless Steel (AISI 316L (1.4404)) is used for filtering diesel exhaust fluid (DEF / AdBlue) in SCR systems so urea crystals and debris do not block the pump and dosing injector. The alloy gives superior resistance, including chlorides, brines, food CIP and mild acids and is essentially non-magnetic, with a practical service limit of approx. +550 °C continuous.

  • Off-highway equipment: SCR filtration on tractors and machinery.
  • Aftermarket service: replacement DEF filters.
  • DEF dispensing: nozzle and pump filters at fueling stations.

Ordering DEF / AdBlue Tank & Pump Filter in 316L Stainless Steel

  • Material: Only SS316L or plastics compatible with ISO 22241; ordinary steels contaminate DEF.
  • Rating: 10–40 µm depending on position.
  • Freeze tolerance: Must survive repeated freezing of DEF.

Mistakes to Avoid with DEF / AdBlue Tank & Pump Filter

  • Using non-316 metal parts, which corrode in urea.
  • Topping up from dirty containers.
