Phosphor Bronze Wire Mesh is used for screening and filtering in marine, fuel and fatigue-loaded duties where tin-bronze cloth outlasts brass and stays non-magnetic. ASTM E2016 is the reference cited for it on drawings, datasheets and purchase orders.
What ASTM E2016 Means for Phosphor Bronze Wire Mesh
The dimensions in the table below are supplied to suit ASTM E2016. Where the standard sets requirements for the finished appliance, device or system, compliance testing of that assembly stays with its manufacturer; we supply the metal mesh part to the drawing and can provide material certificates and dimensional reports with the shipment.
Equivalent Standards
ASTM E2016 is the US counterpart of ISO 9044 for industrial woven wire cloth.

Specifying Phosphor Bronze Wire Mesh Beyond the Standard
- Alloy: CuSn6 (C51900) for marine strainers; CuSn8 for higher strength.
- Weave: Twill weave from 100-mesh up carries the finer wire with more strength.
- Size: Supplied in rolls, cut pieces, discs or formed baskets.
When Phosphor Bronze Wire Mesh Is Not the Right Choice
Not for strong acids or ammonia, and not the lowest-cost choice where stainless steel will do.
