Inconel 600 Multi-Layer Filter Packs

Inconel 600 multi-layer filter packs is stocked to Extruder screen pack convention. The alloy provides excellent oxidation resistance at extreme temperature and is essentially non-magnetic; the practical service limit is approx. +1000 °C (short excursions higher). Property data, alloy comparison and the specification table follow.

Why Choose Inconel 600 for Multi-Layer Filter Packs

The high-temperature furnace and hot-gas filtration alloy. For multi-layer filter packs, this matters when excellent oxidation resistance at extreme temperature is the controlling requirement.

Corrosion Behavior in Filtration Service

Nickel-family alloys are specified for multi-layer filter packs when stainless is not enough: Monel 400 for seawater and hydrofluoric acid, Inconel 600 for oxidation at extreme temperature, Hastelloy C-276 for hot chlorides and mixed acids, titanium for chlorides with weight savings. Match the alloy to the specific chemistry — they are not interchangeable.

Cleaning & Compatibility

Special alloys tolerate aggressive cleaning chemistry, but confirm the specific acid/alkali against the alloy datasheet — e.g. Monel handles HF but not oxidizing nitric; titanium handles nitric but not HF. When welding elements into frames, use matching filler and inert-gas backing to preserve corrosion resistance at the joint.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Inconel 600 multi-layer filter packs be welded into frames?

Yes — spot, TIG and plasma welding are standard for framing and edging. Use matching filler, keep heat input low to protect the fine wires, and re-passivate stainless after fabrication.

Is Inconel 600 multi-layer filter packs magnetic?

Inconel 600 multi-layer filter packs is essentially non-magnetic. Note that heavy cold-working during weaving can make austenitic stainless slightly magnetic at the wire surface.

What corrosion resistance does Inconel 600 offer?

Inconel 600 provides excellent oxidation resistance at extreme temperature, with a practical service range of approx. +1000 °C (short excursions higher).

What temperature can Inconel 600 multi-layer filter packs run at?

The practical continuous service limit is approx. +1000 °C (short excursions higher). Above it, oxidation scales the wire surface and the aperture drifts; for hotter duty move up the alloy ladder (Inconel, and sintered constructions for mechanical stability).
